OpenAI has doubled the Work and Codex usage included in its ChatGPT Pro plans and canceled a planned cut to its $200 tier. The change took effect on October 29, 2026, according to OpenAI’s Help Center.

What changed

  • Pro 100 and Pro 500 now include twice their previous Work and Codex allowance
  • Pro 200: the reduction OpenAI announced in a September 29 email is canceled. Subscribers who already had the higher allowance keep it, and anyone on the lower allowance has been doubled to match
  • Price: Pro 200 stays at $200 a month, and it’s open to new subscribers again
  • GPT-6 Pro in Chat: on Pro 200, the lower weekly message limit now matches the higher one. Pro 100 and Pro 500 keep their current weekly limits

Existing subscribers get the new allowance automatically, without waiting for renewal or resubscribing. Plus usage is unchanged.

“We heard your kind feedback”

OpenAI’s Tibo Sottiaux announced the move on X as Day 25 of the company’s 28-day run of updates: “We are doubling all usage limits for all Pro 100/200/500 tiers and Business Premium, effective today.” He added that OpenAI won’t be reducing Pro 200’s limits, and that it will keep offering extended limits for dots, its always-on personal agents, with dot usage still counted separately from your default usage.

The fine print

OpenAI is careful to say a bigger allowance isn’t a promise of more output. The amount of work you can finish still depends on the model, task and settings, and OpenAI says a larger allowance does not guarantee twice as many completed tasks. Fast mode, for example, uses the allowance at 2.5 times the Standard rate for the same model.
